new job, new life a new update at my blog seems to be a time tracker- its yet another week... the new job at recruit express was certainly a GREAT EXPERIENCE. couldnt really get used on the 1st few days, cos its totally different from FNCC. fast paced, formal attire, lots of talking, listening and talking on phone, quite stressful. and they throw to you everything, expecting you to know. thanks to the other temp shirley sitting next to me, i get a better idea of wat to do. there is a target to aim for, sending out 10 resumes to the client holders. and my boss said to me, she expect me to close 2-3 contracts per week. wow. of cos i want to cos each contract closed earns me an extra $25. but its simply very difficult. to the point that i get really excited when my 1st candidate was shortlisted for interview tml. i shouted a big YAY in my heart man. 2 candidates going down and i hope mine will be chosen! looking at resumes is something very funny. you see people getting about 3k per annum (they meant monthly). or being born in 2007. HAHA. 2 years old and looking for a job? lol. and i really cant catch wat those KLKs (erm u can ask me if you realllllly duno wat it is) are speaking man. the point is to grab hold of key words. you cant understand everything they say i tell you. and there are weird ppl out there who says really funny stuff that doesnt make sense at all. and foreigners who dun understand wat it means by sporean/pr and keep spamming like 10 or 12 of their resumes. and the list goes on.... and i need to take the packed mrt rides nowadays.hmm more like a working adult now compared to taking company transport. heh. spending close to $5 each day on food and i must say i tried out quite a lot of fast food in 1 week. glad that the other temps are really nice people and easy to get a long with :) saturday was as usual the family day cos sis is back. we went to ichiban sushi and this time i ate 2 plates of salmon cheese! omg.. alright my point is after that we went to shop for my cosmetics. feeling like a grown up. mum and sis was blasting me with what to do, what is needed, which is good and so on... i must say i am quite a noob at this cos i always thot ppl my age wouldnt need it. but the fact that my boss already mentioned abt putting some make-up, i think i better prepare myself. and sis say actually its quite a common knowledge when we get to uni. so now i have a full set for myself, from the eyebrow thing to blusher and wat have you. enough to make me a member of maybelline. lol. its yet another day tml. dun think i can hit anything near the target resumes cos will be meeting 2 candidates. good luck to me.. call me sophia just a quick post abt the week before i go to bed and wake up tml for my new job. WED went for mini s24 gathering. only 6 of us in total. audrey, jipeng, joanna, singhui, yanjia and me. was supposed to have steamboat but we changed to having fish n co at bugis. which marks the 2nd time i'm having fish and chips in 5 days. haha. but it was good meeting up with them, and i realised its like close to 2 years since i last last jipeng? haha guess i'm missing out too much on s24 gatherings. and good that audrey went cos it cant be 'low' with her around. heh. we walked around, to the new iluma and bugis street after dinner. den home sweet home :) THUR i found a new job. after spamming resume for 3 days on jobsdb, jobstreet or any jobs site you can find online. only 1 replied, which is recruit express. to be a consultant there. the exact same job as sis and ade. under the same head somemore. so i went in the morning for interview and was offered the job on the spot. this brings me to the title of this post. if i ever sent you any email (which i rarely do. perhaps my pw mates were the only few to receive them), you will know myname on email is Sophia Eng, my email address too. thats set 6 or 8 years ago when i thot its cool to have that a christian name or whatever you call it. but i abandoned it when fm972 had this short commercial calling Sophia as a maid and my uncle keep laughing at me for that. and when i sent my new supervisor my resume, i wrote Shang Fei in the email. but she conveniently called me Sophia throughout the interview even though i wrote Shang Fei on my application form too. and she conveniently added Sophia behind my name as well on the contract. well well, i guess its easier to call and rmb. so, i shall start to accept that i'm Sophia from tml onwards. ok so after the long story abt my name, i met joson and clarice at suntec after my interview. we had lunch at astons, sat there to talk from 2pm to 4pm, went to walk around and meet liyan meichen, before we went BACK to astons for dinner AGAIN at 5.30pm. LOL. so i had 2 meals there. my goodness. but it was nice talking and laughing with the seniors once again. meichen has got really funny stories, and she says it funnily too. haha. after dinner joson went off and we went to esplanade to continue chatting. there was a harp concert going on and we sat there talking, with the nice music as background. and we went off to gelare cos meichen was craving for ice cream. yum yum. and we tried taking photo. but i guess everyone is too sleepy. haha.  FRI was supposed to sing with alvin joson and yiwen. but after a twist of fate, i went to sing with sis instead while they and shijun jinxian sang at another room. lol its too long a story. and so the room was the usual room23 (we always get that. a bit weird ya). and i would say it was bigger then joson they all's room. lol! such that me and sis and straighten our legs on the sofa facing the tv. and i sang to my heart's content! 4hours solid ah! we got so high at 1 pt of time we used to instruments to dance with our fav hokkien song "ji ba ban"(1 million dollars). haha. such that we were so exhausted after the song. lol!  after that i went to meet the girls for dinner at ichiban! a pity mk couldn come. and yes its the usual catching up on all the random stuffs we used to talk abt in school last time. and they came up with this neverending cycle of meeting up by making someone pay 1st and we pay that person next time we meet! so evil! cos we MUST turn up for the next meeting den! haha we live up to ur name- the evil step fam! LOL. ok great next up is SINGING AGAIN with them. haha :) SAT danhong clarice they all went back to visit the nj juniors. but i decided to give it a miss cos i really hardly find much time at home, after going out for the whole week. and mum's homecooked food is still the best la! after all the eat-out you will really miss them :) and i plan to finish pi li MIT before job starts but failed :( 2.5 more episodes to go. yan ya lun is loved la!!!! :) TODAY/SUN the family went to IKEA tampines. a random idea by mum and we found ourselves there looking at all the furnitures and thinking how they can fit into our home. heh and we got new cups which we will personlise soon soon! i think after sis's final exams :) next stop was courts MEGAstore next door. camera camera! i'm going to get a new 1 after my next or next next pay day :) den we went back to IKEA for dinner. cos every1 was craving for meatballs! yum yum! great and the chicken wings were super big and nice too! i think i'm getting more and more high down the post. ok i'm a bit edgy over the new job. cos sis has told me sooo much abt it, i'm scared i cant live up to it, or not suitable for the environment. 3months contract can be slow or fast lo! esp when my new supervisor says i'm quiet and must get out of my comfort zone to fit in this job. well well good luck to me!! :)) Tuesday, April 07, 2009 @ 4/07/2009 08:06:00 PM
frictionally unemployed hello i'm unemployed now. and i mean totally since i'm not teaching tuition as well (not that i dun want but no1 finds me :( ) last week.. -my farewell lunch treat by the company was at Ding Tai Feng. i think the xiao long baos are really small and crystal jade is better. but la mian wise it was better there la. -had my 1st and last rollout at night. at suntec from 10pm at night to 5++am in the morning. wah super super tired la. no i wasnt doing the merchandising. of cos the guys did them and i was sitting on the ladder doing ticketing. and we had macs treat at like 2am. lol. i was half asleep by then. took a taxi home and the uncle was totally rushing for time cos he's changing shift. i reached home in less than 20min! -my last day. candy and alison gave me a really nice gifdt hamper. made by candy :) the sheep maa maa is really cute and there's lots of snacks which i cant bear to eat. lunch treat from my boss again for the last time. and i gave my colleagues the bear banner. and they put them at their works station :)  i went to do clearance and when i came back my boss, alison and candy changed into the red coke tee! and they gave me 1 too so that we can take photos in it. and we went to take with the big big coke at the lobby :)1st up me with the coke! it makes me happy seeing it every morning when i go t work..  me with alison the friendly and nice and most huggable admin coordinator :) thats candy the chio-est lady in the office. she wears really nice clothes! and we love the big coke!! *hugs*  fong li from HR who joined us for the photo taking. she's the 2nd person i know in coke. cos she led us thru the orientation.  oh ya i shud insert a photo taken with evelyn in Feb. she's from HR and the 1st person i know cos she interviewed me. but sad she left in mid feb :( and how can forget my very nice boss!!!  group pics! they made me squat in front la! haha :)   and we went back to the office... to take more photos! but i was in such a hurry i forget to transfer the group 1s :( nvm will get my boss to send me after she come back from china.. here's the only 1 i have in our office. me and my boss :))) and so, thats the end of my 3months job stint at FNCC :)saturday we celebrated minghan's birthday at plaza sing. had the very nice manhatten fish market! well at least i think its nicer and more worthy than fish&co. den we went to walk walk around and neoprints! no la we took using phone camera. but after a lot of tries still not bad la.. the 5 of us- minghan, danhong, shijun, joson and me :)  and shihao and shijun's fren join us for shinjuku incident movie. alien years since i last watched a movie! but it was ok la. dun understand why they say the film has been in the planning stages for almost 10 years. a looooot of triad gang members but i think the eguchi is most ok looking 1 inside, since daniel wu was really not shuai4 with that fake hair and he lost one hand in the early parts of show. omg damn gross.  ok now i duno wat to do for the rest of the month. but this week is no doubt packed, gathering with s24, clarice & liyan, the girls... oh man and no recruitment agency has called me yet. quite interested to get a waitress job with shufen to try out. sis says can learn a lot of things actually. but i'm now quite comforted because the unis did receive my application. lol cos so many ppl had receive their acceptance letter except me. smu called me to go down for interview next week. but i'm more interested in the nus 1!! nus plssss call me!! :((( |
